Let’s have a grilled big prawn at Ayutthaya!

Frankly, I think of a big shrimp as my favorite dish of all time. I think of them more than just food but they were also my consolation when I felt down.

Anyway, I don’t want to be rush at the weekend so I take this as a one day trip for touring around the old city and take a photo of the highlight spots at Ayutthaya and ended the trip with (our) favorite grilled prawn.

A photo trip plan start!

This is an easy trip that you can follow. The photo – foodie trip for the people who has a busy life in the weekday and want to chill at the weekend.

Let’s pack your stuff and go!

Ayutthaya is the big city near Bangkok that you may drive to just a few hours. You would notice that every place was not close to each other on GPS advice but they were just 30 minutes away. This plan is not that strict so you can add other interesting places on your GPS. As for me I had ‘add or remove’  anyplace we would like! Today is a free day we would like to take it easy for a weekend trip. About three hours from Bangkok on the way we may stop and chill with some coffee and take some photos in the eye-catching places along the way until we reach the old city of Ayutthaya, the city of culture and history.

1. Prawn Market

Farmer market of Ayutthaya (Or-Thor-Kor market).

The big flea market of Ayutthaya for a foodie. The food and other ingredients in this market are fresh and cheap because you could buy from the farmer. I had been in another market but this market is the best for a price and a quality.

You may find a restaurant around the market and get some seafood to heal your craving. We have been here for a prawn! You could choose the prawn from the pond in front of the restaurant and it will get cooked fresh and delicious.

Noted: At noon all of the restaurants were very crowded so we suggest you come earlier or in the afternoon.

2. Sala Ayutthaya

Boutique hotel of Ayutthaya.

You might ever saw one of your friends check in this hotel before and saw some photos of this beautiful hotel on ‘the recommend places of Ayutthaya’ so, we were here to prove by stay for a night.

This boutique hotel is not just an ordinary hotel because this hotel has a galleria and much photogenic pool view that you can both take some photos and get some inspiration from this boutique hotel. Also, you can see the beautiful statue of ‘Buddha Sai Yard’ from the balcony of the hotel restaurant.

This hotel is different from the other hotel branches in Phuket and Samui because this is four stars hotel and has a limited area for a car park. Anyway, this boutique hotel is giving more local vibe and beautiful scenery at affordable prices!

3. Ayutthaya Retreat

Thai style café and resort hotel.

Thai style café in the traditional and cultural city of  Ayutthaya. From the outside, you would notice the big rowing boat and lotus pond pictures. When you step inside you have to pass the traditional style house until you reach the lotus pond. Choose your seat and chill with Thai tasty food and take some photos in any corner you like!

This cafe also has a hotel service and has been appeared on many Thai dramas so you would see many people in this café especially at noon. You should come here earlier or in the afternoon to avoid the crowd.

4. Temples Hopping

Ayutthaya, our old beautiful city’ riches with culture and many beautiful temples. Temple is the center of the Thai people. More than 100 temples were built in Ayutthaya. The beautiful golden color and the jewelry on the wall were shone until the Ayutthaya era was fallen now these temples became the world heritage sites that you can visit here to study the history of Thailand.

In this trip we decide to follow what we fancy on the internet so we had been visited 2-3 temples for a day total of 5 temples for a trip as following 1.) Wat Chai Mong Kol 2.) Wat Mahathat 3.) Wat Barom Phuttharam 4.) Wat Thammigaratch and Wat Na Phra Meru

The most beautiful temple is Wat Na Phra Meru because this temple had been mostly maintained the same as the Ayutthaya era and also used to be Burma (the old Myanmar) army base. You would be impressed by the beauty of the little temple around the big pagoda. The most visited temple was Wat Maha That. We saw the crowd of foreign tourists around when we were there.

5. The Wine Ayutthaya

Restaurant in Ayutthaya,

Another place that you should put on the list. Try out tasty food in a beautiful place and the highlight was the wine tasting. The place for a wine lover who loves to sipping a good wine after the great dinner.

This restaurant was built from the wood boxes lined up with the ladders around. Good for taking some photos for your new profile picture!

6. The Summer House Ayutthaya

Chic cafe and bar in Ayutthaya.

The highlight place of Ayutthaya that you should not miss. This café became famous among tourists and local people because of the perfect decoration and tasty dishes. This café and bar were ‘the must check place’ of Ayutthaya.

Every Saturday night, you might yearning to a good place for music. This cafe and bar have a live concert show every Saturday night by the river. Come and reserve the best spot before anyone. We guarantee 10 out of 10 for the best place for music in the night!
