Weekend Trip: Let’s get lost in Kanchanaburi

If you have a thing for a road trip, along with your favorite playlist and a beautiful view outside a car window. After the tiresome week from work let’s get lost in the place with magnificent views but not far from Bangkok for your safety and time-saving.

Yes! That is Kanchanaburi. Just around 2 hrs from Bangkok. Anyway, we recommend the place which is not in the city so you can feel the beauty of nature to your content and ease out your mind.

Z9 Resort

Relax in the riverside resort and lay down on a raft bed with a nature view outside. Just 1 hour driving from Kanchanaburi’s city. You can see a magnificent view of the big dam and the beautiful or the resort building style. Some called this place ‘Thailand’s Maldives’.

The location is far from the main city and near the Srinakarin dam, so you can relax with nature in your private spaces (The resort has only 30 rooms available!) but do not worry about the facility or boredom. They had a kayak boats and other requirements prepared for you.

I dare to say this resort has the best sunset view ever. Pink light blended with the purple of the sunset reflected on the water is to (must) do list for complete your unseen Kanchanaburi list. Take your date to fulfill a memorable time or chill out with your friend. Let the magnificent view ease your mind.

The Village Farm to Cafe

A little café to chill out. This café located near Keeree Mantra with a branch food style that you can come anytime such as Mocha, Latte, or little hamburger.

Keeree Mantra

When you heard the name of ‘Keeree Mantra’ the first thing that comes in mind is the hotel. You probably wrong, this is a restaurant that located before the mountain and beside The village Farm to café. This restaurant is very popular with family and tourists.

While enjoying your good lunch you can see at the mountain view outside and, when you stay late until the sunset time you can see the sunset between the mountains, romantic isn’t it? This resort-style restaurant also good for chillout and you can walk to The Village Farm to café forget the picture with beautiful scenery there.

Hellfire Pass

“When you go home tell them of us and say we gave our tomorrow for your today.”
Hellfire Pass or Chong Kao Kard.

There are 2 zones for visitor ‘Indoor’ and ‘Outdoor’. The ‘Indoor’ zone there are memorable pictures, theater and tools built Thailand and Burma railing way in World war 2. We had a visit to the ‘Outdoor’ zone which expressed a sad story as much as an indoor zone. We had to climb down the mountain path which is not made by nature but was built from labors.

In World War 2, Japan military need to build a railway to links Thailand and Burma for military supply. So, this began the bad dream of the Thai, Malaysian, Burmese and Australian hostages who had to build up this path all day and night. 18 hours/day with no rest. ‘Hellfire’ means the light from the labor’s work at night. They had work and left die there.

Many years had passed and this place has been left behind until J.G (Tom) Morris, former Australian hostage in WWII had a visit in Thailand. He came to this place and was building the Hellfire Pass Museum for telling the story of this place and as a memorial. Now, the Australia Government has been in the action of taking care of the museum.

Srinakarin Dam

‘The sunset view in Kanchanaburi is a magnificent view that you must see!’ this was not a lie when you saw the sunset view at Srinakarin Dam. Check the golden hour and drive here to spend a romantic time with your date at one of the biggest dam in Thailand. More of that, there are many events here like Cholpratarn event or any big events from Thailand’s government.

This dam has many hotels and resorts around such as on the raft-style resort ‘Z9 resort’ to chill out. Anyway, when you arrive you have to see a Srinakarin dam ridge. The big ridge with a path to a beautiful sunset reflected on the water. That is worth it.

Kanchanaburi, just one province but many kinds of stuff you can do! Chilling in the cute café, get the history knowledge, and relax with ALL nature under the blue sky with the greenery ground. If you want to chill in the place that you can drive by anytime. Kanchanaburi is the best answer for you. You would fall in love with this little city, just like me.
