Well , the place near the city does not mean you could not get the outbound vibe.
The places we would talk about were near Amphawa but not the same eat-shop things! You could see the local living by the riverside (they were actually live there).
2 hours driving from Bangkok for a trip at anytime you want. Even in your short weekend with your family or friend. I could tell that this trip is nothing like urban trip.
Let’s join us a trip!
Ban rim klong Home stay.
If you want to travel and join with a local people around. This local home stay is the one you have been looking for. This homestay hotel has the small nighbourhood around waiting for you to learn and chill out with them.
This small place were crowned by the local people around so, if the homestay is full. You might choose to stay at the village instead!
You can learn many hand craft works here. As for me ,I had learnt a coconut leaf hand craft from Lanthom. She is a cool lady with planting skills. She have been study about planting for years by herself and share with others as well .She has been a speaker to teach and share her knowledges with others.
Hand craft time with Khun Lanthom.
You can learn coconut hand cafts here for free which is added in homestay package.
The teacher who had teach us is Lanthom. Khun Lanthom had create his own style of coconut leaf hand carfts. He had told us his experiences of trial and error stories. while having a good time we had finish a hat which was 100 bath (she told us).
We had notice a love of her job and her hobby. He smiled when he told us a story of his life and career path.
Not just a handcraft knowledges , you could got a new hobby or even a new job with you.
Kanom thom recipe.
Another hand craft stations for you to learn. Kanom thom (coconut ball) is one of the famous Thai tradition desserts which made from coconut and flour. From the first step ,wraping a grated coconut inside the thin white flour and boil them until done then wrap them again with a grated coconut.
While had a good time with granny who teach us. Listen to her story and the others about how they live in this lovely village. It is fun. Even it was just the moments of time still, we want to embrace it.
Make coconut sugar.
Coconut sugar that we have seen in the market was made from coconut trees nurisment. Sathit is the teacher how to made them from climb up the tree (he actually climbed!) and took out the water from the coconut leafs then we have to wait.
It took a while when we got the sugar to fill up the bottle. How many trees that the farmer have to climb up for fill up the sugar?
After that we have to take a raw sugar on the pan and cooked it with heat and stirred until it all goes brown and sticky like caramel. Then stirred them by hands. And last step by us, is took them back to the bottle and wait for them to dry.
Rowing on the boat.
Row a boat in the evening for local tour around town to Amphawa market. Along the way on the riverside you could see the living , culture and many stores with old style facility.
Do not forget to take the camera with you to catch the scenic picture of the interesting European-vintage style building.
Long ago, the river that we called them ‘mother’. Where were the river , there were a birth of culture and living. Rowing on the boat is like go back to the good old times. When there were no hectic traffic and rush hour.
Make a merit in the morning.
There is a pier in the homestay which a monk would pass by the boat. Do a good deed by offer the good things to the monk in the morning.
Let’s kick start a good day by doing a good things with your friends.
Farming life and living by the river side.
The green shade of the coconut leaf by the river is the memorial picture of Amphawa.
We intent to ride a boat in Tha ka float market for visit and capture the picture of local farmer by the riverside. We also shop for the local foods and souvenir for out friend.
Calmly vibe moment with your friends on the boat. Slowly passing by the river. It was the best moment that you have to try.
Floating market.
If we have to talk about how difference of Amphawa and Tha Kam floating market? Amphawa floating market was more crowned with people and stores but Tha Kam floating market is less crowned and less stores. What the same is the picture of people and living cuture by the river. It is up to you.Which one do you like? How about both?
Rom Hoop Market (Train railway market).
This market is very famous and one of the unseen market in Thailand.
What interesting is there was a train passing through the market and they have to make a way for the train by closing the umbrella and moving there vendors aside (Rom means umberlla)
We could not catch the moment of the train passing by bacause we have to wait for 2 hours! Anyway you could see that there were the wheels under the umbrellas and vendors.
If you heard about Amphawa but never experience the local vibe from here , We are sure that you would love this place.
Let’s take yourself away from the rush and hectic weekday by the local place near Bangkok that you could take a visit anytime.
Maybe you might find the new experinces that you never get from anywhere else , just like us.
