Artworks on Sarong Teen Dang from Buriram city

Buriram, the center of Khmer culture in Thailand. This city was famous for the beauty of ‘art on silk.’ Everyone in this city can weave silk or weaving a pattern on silk because these hand skills were the legacy of their grandmother of grandfather. You could visit the village in Amphoe Phutthaisong and Amphoe Na Pho Song, the two towns with beautiful silk weaving and got the support from the government organization for a pattern designing and selling a silk product.

The Beautiful Pattern weaving

The famous and unique silk pattern of Buriram city is’ Ikat Teen Dang’ or called ‘Sin Hua Teen Dang, Sin Teen Dang or Sin Mee Ruad.’

The pattern showed unique and colorful art. On the top and the bottom of the silk have the red color pattern. In the middle, weaving the color of black Ikat thread(Mai Tang Ta Noo pattern or Mai Kad Taa Noo) with white, yellow-green, red with some traditional patterns of Nark, Saw Luew (Saw pattern), Kor Kraeu, Kor Won.

These beautiful and complex patterns made this silk weaving to be a unique pattern of Buriram city.

Baan Hua Sapaan at Amphoe Phutthaisong

The essential sources of mulberry, the food for feeding a silkworm. The silk that came from this silkworm will be made into products such as silk thread, Ikat silk, Teen Dang Sarong pattern, Ikat silk with the red bottom, or the other silk pattern. This skill and products have been weaving pass down for many generations, which generates revenue and career.
