Bang Rong Community, Phuket

Bang Rong is a Musilim community with more than 200 years of history. It is located by the sea with abundant natural resources from mangrove forest to the mountain, named Phra Taew. Its great geography makes it possible to offer a wide range of activities to visitors.
Eco-friendly minded visitors can Bang Rong’s the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project where you can see and learn gibbon’s habitats. Spend your time at the nursery to see the rehabilitation process that helps assist gibbons before returning to the wild.
If you are interested in the local way of life, visit the fruit orchards such as the pineapple farm or the goat farms to learn how to make goat-milk soaps or the rubber plantation to harvest latex with locals.
If you are into crafts, join a workshop on Batik bags.
The mangrove forest is also very interesting. This is the flower crabs’ home. Join the locals to learn more about the flower crabs and their life cycle and how the community is protecting the flower crabs and food resources for the next generations. Visitors can also spend overnights at the homestays to gain deeper experiences with the community.

Volunteers For Pets
Lanta Animal Welfare Foundation’s agenda are to take care of and find new homes for stray dogs and cats at Ko Lanta. The foundation also welcomes volunteers to care for the animals at the headquarter.
Key activities focus on living with rescue dogs and cats e.g. taking them out for exercise, bathing them and clean cages and shelters.
Lanta Animal Welfare accepts 4 types of volunteers. General volunteers take care of the animals, feed and give them baths, clean cages and tend the garden at the foundation. Information volunteers assist in providing information to walk-in tourists and on guided tours with occasional office tasks. Media volunteers assist in maintaining social media, producing media to disseminate information to the public. And, finally, experienced veterinary volunteers help by giving clinical services from maintaining good animal health to sterile operations.

Elephant Rescue National Park, Chiang Mai
Providing Great Quality Life To Elephants.
An elephant is Thailand’s national animal and the Thais place great importance on the elephants. The Elephant Rescue National Park is set up to serve this purpose and for tourists who care about ecotourism and sustainable tourism.

WVS Care For Dogs, Chiang Mai
Learn How To Rescue Stray Animals.
There are stray animals all around Thailand. Chiang Mai is one of the provinces with the most numbers of stray animals. This is the reason that brings WVS Care For Dogs to life. The rescue center aims to care for stray dogs and cats in Chiang Mai by providing food, shelter and a healthier life. WVS Care For Dogs’ main mission is to reduce the numbers of stray animals in Chiang Mai.
To gain the best volunteer experiences WVS Care For Dogs provides a 3.5-day program for volunteers to get hands-on experiences in all tasks, from taking the animals out for exercises, bathing, removing lice and cleaning them. Volunteers also get a chance to meet students and staff in the area who have been great supporters for building better welfare for the stray animals. Volunteers will give advice and instructions on sterilization to the animal owners as well.

Khun Mon Farm offers 6 stations of wisdom: 1) a corn farm visit and harvest fresh corn; 2) making corn milk ice-cream; 3) making cold-pressed sesame oil; 4) making wood vinegar and using Iwate charcoal kiln; 5) building mud adobe; and 6) making ground sesame herbal ball for massages.
Each station of wisdom is uniquely prepared to showcase how local wisdom offers valuable practical knowledge worth to be protected and passed on to the next generations.
